This Monday’s Back To Mein Hosts are the stars of the iconic 80s party – GIRLS ON FILM. We’re talking shoulder pads, glitter balloons and pure anthems.

We caught up with founder and pop power lady Hattie Pearson to hear about her all time top 10 bangers

‘I’m unexplainably excited about jumping on the decks on Monday night at Schloss. I’m going to be playing tunes that have shaped my life in some way or form! Everything from 70s rock, 90s pop to 00s indie and obviously a big fat chunk of 80s to celebrate my clubnight Girls On Film’

So here’s my top 10 GOF tunes!

1) Girls on Film – Duran Duran

This has to be my #1 tune. The parties we put on every Saturday night at Deaf Institute were originally inspired by this tune and its video with mega sass. Go watch it!

2) We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off – Jermaine Stewart

Well no you’re right Jermaine… you don’t HAVE to take your clothes off to have a good time. But y’know sometimes it helps doesn’t it? ;)

3) I’m Still Standing – Elton John

It’s Elton John – the king of pop. Need I say anymore?

4) Once In A Lifetime – Talking Heads

David Byrne asks “How Did I Get Here?”. Who cares Dave you’ve written one of my ultimate 80s anthems and I’m sure you don’t need to be worrying yourself about the size of your automobile or the beauty of your house!

5) Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag – Pigbag

When I first launched Girls On Film six years ago there was a lot of 80s music that I was yet to discover… This was one of the gems I came across after a mate asked if I’d ever played it. It remains one of my go to dance floor fillers!

6) Ride On Time – Blackbox

I love the 80s for many reasons but it still fascinates me as to how the musical landscape evolved from the start to the end of the decade. This was released in ’89 and was one of the pivotal tracks in the next wave of dance music!

7) Easy Lover – Phil Collins

Why hasn’t Phil Collins been given a knighthood yet? I love pretty much everything Phil Collins thanks to my parents who played him to me a lot when I was a kid. My love for Phil and his rock anthems extends to Genesis, Peter Gabriel and Mike & The Mechanics.

8) Toto – Africa

This always goes down an absolute storm in any set. Mainly though it brings back memories of a random work trip I had to South Sudan with a fellow GOF resident DJ, John (Max Digital Radio). I’ll explain this story on Monday night…

9) Gold – Spandau Ballet

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve danced on the bar to this tune at the end of the night. If you’re not screaming “always believe in your soul” at the top of your lungs then I want to know why!

10) George Michael – Faith

One of the finest musical talents ever to walk the planet. I remember hearing this track on the radio in the car on the way to school and trying to copy my mum who knew all the words!
